TOUR TO THE SAHARA DESERT OF MERZOUGA

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas mountains – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Roses Valley – Dades Gorge

We will meet you at your accommodation in Marrakech and begin our journey towards Ouarzazate, driving through the dramatic Tizi-N-Tichka Pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the landscapes as we pass through picturesque Berber villages.

Our first stop is the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, the largest and most famous Kasbah in Morocco. A UNESCO World Heritage site, this ancient fortified village is home to many members of the Glaoui family and is renowned for its stunning architecture. After exploring the Kasbah, we will enjoy lunch on-site before continuing our journey.

We will drive through Ouarzazate, known as “the Hollywood of Africa,” and along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, famous for its impressive sandcastles and historical structures. We will also pass through Kalaat Mgouna, the “Rose City,” known for its annual rose festival during the harvest season in May.

Our day concludes with a drive to Dades Gorge, where we will check into our hotel nestled in the heart of this beautiful valley. Enjoy a relaxing evening with a delicious dinner and overnight stay at the hotel, complete with breakfast the following morning.

Day 2 : Dades Gorge – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Sahara – Camel trekking – overnight in a luxury camp

After breakfast at the hotel, we will head back into the Dades Valley to admire the striking rock formations known as “The Monkey Toes,” as well as the still-standing 19th-century Kasbah of Ait Yul. We will then continue our journey to Tinghir and the Todra Valley, enjoying panoramic views of the ancient mud Berber villages that overlook the valley.

Upon arrival at the Todra Gorge, we will take a walk beneath the towering 300-meter-high red cliffs, a favorite spot for rock climbers. From here, we will continue towards Erfoud and Rissani, where we will stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, we will make our way to Merzouga, where an exciting camel trek awaits. We will ride across the vast sand dunes to reach a perfect vantage point, where you can capture unforgettable sunset photos. Afterward, we’ll return to our luxury desert camp for a traditional dinner and enjoy a night under the open sky, surrounded by the moonlight and thousands of bright stars.

Day 3: Merzouga Sahara – Draa Valley- Anti Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

You will wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the sand dunes. After enjoying your breakfast, we will begin our journey back to Ouarzazate, passing through Rissani, one of the oldest cities in Morocco and the capital of the Alaoui dynasty. Once a bustling trade center connecting sub-Saharan Africa with the north, Rissani offers rich history and vibrant culture.

We will make a stop at the Nomad Market, considered the largest in southern Morocco, where you can immerse yourself in the local atmosphere. Continuing our drive, we will pass through Tazarine and other small Berber villages, offering stunning views along the way.

Next, we’ll visit the magnificent palm gardens of the Draa Valley, a true oasis in the desert. We will arrive in Ouarzazate for lunch, then head towards Marrakech via the scenic Tizi-n-Tichka Pass. Upon arrival in Marrakech, we will check into your hotel, marking the end of this memorable journey.
